Design Notes

The RBS (BBa_B0034) was chosen because it has a high translation initiation rate and is compatible with most bacterial hosts.A HindIII restriction site was added at the end of the buk gene to allow further manipulation of the part.

This part is derived from the genomic sequence of Clostridium acetobutylicum, a gram-positive anaerobic bacterium that can produce acetone, butanol and ethanol from various substrates.
